Instagram Competitor Insights

Instagram has introduced a new "Competitor Insights" feature for professional accounts, letting you compare your performance with up to 10 similar profiles.

It's a great way to contextualise your performance against similar accounts, giving you a clearer view of where you stand and what's working in your niche. At the same time, it could also encourage unnecessary comparison.

Interestingly, LinkedIn company pages had this option too, though it's now a paid feature. I didn't mind it there, but on Instagram it feels a bit off – especially considering their move to let users hide likes. What do you think?

• Instagram Edits gets improved colour correction tools, custom animations for captions, new video effects and more.
• Facebook now allows Private Groups to become Public. If you're thinking of switching, give your community a heads-up so they can decide what works best for them
• Threads adds Time Management options
• TikTok expands access to Bulletin Boards (one-to-many messaging) for profiles
• TikTok adds AI creation tools like image to video, text to video and AI transitions
• LinkedIn wants to tackle fake profiles, AI comments, engagement pods and other artificial engagement on the app
• YouTube separates organic and paid metrics in analytics
• Apple Podcasts will get auto-generated links and chapters in iOS 26.2
• WhatsApp plans to allow usernames next year, giving users the option to protect their phone numbers
• Google plan to clean up the SERPs​
