π§βπ¨ What's new on Canva
Canva announced 9 updates across their Visual Suite, AI and Brand Tools during their keynote event yesterday.
- Visual Suite: A new Video Editor 2.0, interactive Forms, data and code integrations, and an email design tool with HTML export.
- AI: The new Canva Design Model can generate elements, videos, templates and match your style. You can also ask Canva for design feedback and assistance.
- Brand Tools: Canva Grow helps you create and launch ad campaigns, and the updated Brand Kit layout makes assets easier to access.
I'll be honest, I'm not overly excited about most of this. Nothing against Canva, but there are better options out there. I do like the new Brand Kit layout, and I'm eager to try Canva Grow. As for the new video editor, I'm cautiously optimistic. Can it really compete with CapCut, Edits and other video editing tools?
Affinity dropped a huge update of their own: a single all-in-one app combining Designer, Photo and Publisher for graphic design, photo editing and publishing. It is completely free, with extra AI features available for Canva Premium users.
I'm genuinely excited about this one. I switched from Adobe to Affinity when it first launched for work (still using Adobe at my day job), and although I cancelled when I no longer needed it, I've missed having it in my toolkit. I downloaded it straight away!
