The Roundup – February 28th ⚡️

👋 Welcome back Reader

This week in The Roundup we're discussing:

→ How online communities are evolving
→ Instagram considering a standalone app for Reels
→ Create your own video stock library

Let's dive in...

🔥 What do social media users want from online communities?

The Verge, Vox Media and Two Cents Insights conducted a study on how digital communities are evolving with technology.

They found that:

  • Legacy tech and social media giants are losing user trust, paving the way for disruptive newcomers.
  • There's a growing desire for platforms that facilitate real, meaningful interactions and human-driven engagement.
  • People are moving towards smaller trust-based communities and purpose-driven groups.

Another week of new features on our favourite social media apps...

What are your thoughts on the standalone Reels app?

💭 From my desk

My tip for you this week is to film as much as possible in your day-to-day life – getting ready in the morning, going for a walk, making coffee, cooking dinner, organising your day, sitting at your desk, working on your computer, writing your to-do list... and so on! Organise it all into a folder and start a video content bank, like your own stock footage library. You'd be surprised how often you can use these clips along with captions or voiceovers for quick Instagram Reels or TikTok's. You could even use previous Instagram posts or carousels into videos using this stock footage and publish it as a Trial Reel to reach a new audience.

It's been a busy week on the work front, and March is filling up fast! I only have a handful of VIP Day spots left, so if you need help with website optimisation, SEO, social media strategy, content prep, or anything else – reach out, let’s work together!

Until next time,
